Traditionally, fleet managers and procurement departments have had to buy a range of specialist vehicles to fulfil a range of specialist tasks. With CAMELEON - one vehicle with a number of interchangeable special bodies, can perform a wide range of tasks. Why have a gritter and snowplough sat idle for ten months a year when that vehicle could be put to use throughout the year in different roles? Why replace an entire specialist vehicle after seven to ten years - when you could simply replace the vehicle and retain the expensive special bodies. Special bodies - we call them modules - could potentially outlast vehicles by a factor of three to one. Real long-term cost savings are obvious.
TOTAL FLEXIBILITY
Available in left or right hand drive, CAMELEON is designed to offer mission commanders and fleet managers very broad force packaging flexibility / fleet management flexibility. Utilising OVIK's Modular Mission System, the simple, crew-operated mission module changer combines with a range of specialist mission modules to provide unrivalled, cost-effective flexibility.
To date, over thirty CAMELEON modules have been designed with seven reaching full development including the troop carrier / patrol vehicle, weapons platform, accommodation and command units, fuel bowsers, power generators and fully armoured 'instant' sentry posts / checkpoints. Further modules are under development. The system has a wide range of applications including defence, NGO and disaster relief as well as commercial use in off road terrain.

The CAMELEON is an all wheel drive modular mission system vehicle designed and produced by the OVIK Group. Designed and developed in 2010, the original CAMELEON (the IV440) was based upon the IVECO Daily 4x4 chassis but incorporated a number of modifications designed by OVIK. Since then CAMELEON systems have been integrated onto a range of base platforms (UNIMOG / Renault etc) varying in gross vehcle weight (GVW) between 5.5 and 28 tonnes.
Available in left or right hand drive configuration.
The CAMELEON system incorporates a base vehicle (to customer preference - normally a 4x4 / 6x6 or 8x8) - a bespoke hydraulic hook-lift system and a range of specialist mission modules which can be interchanged rapidly, giving the vehicle a multi-functional utility. The OVIK Group integrates a bespoke hydraulic load changer system and generally ruggedises / adapts the base vehicle according to role, adding components such as roll suppressor, top hatch, light covers, winch and bull bars, lighting and (if required) weapon systems.
DEFENCE APPLICATIONS
CAMELEON is, in may respects, the perfect solution for adding ultimate flexibility to defence vehicle fleets. Available on platforms ranging from 5.5 tonnes GVW all the way up to 40 tonnes there is very little a CAMELEON system can't provide in terms of modular capability in the defence role.
At the lighter end of the vehicle scale a CAMELEON system based upon, for example, an IVECO Daily 4x4, provides a cost-effective yet robust and highly mobile platform which can be transformed in seconds from a combat service support (CSS) role - such as a flatbed palletised load carrier - into a combat support (CS) vehicle - such as an ambulance or command and communcations centre - or indeed into a pure combat vehicle such as a long-range patrol vehicle or a fire support platform. The possibilities are endless. The logic is obvious.
COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS
CAMELEON MMS offers a wide range of standard and bespoke modules suitable for operations across the Civil, Commercial, NGO and Emergency Service sectors. Born of a defence pedigree where flexibility, robustness, simplicity and reliability are key; vehicle crews simply change modules to reconfigure the CAMELEON platform.
Role changing is a one person operation taking under two minutes to achieve a full capability reconfiguration. The CAMELEON IV440 utilises a lightweight, hydraulic load-changer system to enable rapid platform reconfiguration. From a personnel carrier to an ambulance to a tipper body with integrated excavator to a load carrier or even a specialist search dog unit with de-mountable kennel, the functions and possibilities are limitless.
